St Therese of Lisieux is our class saint. We aspire to be like her and do small things with great love.

Year 2 have been enjoying their home learning tasks, particularly those that have been set on Google Classroom.

In English, the children have been encouraged to explore the structure and patterns in poetry. Having read 'The Snake Song' poem by John Mbiti, the children wrote their own poem about a deadly creature based on the structure of 'The Snake Song'.

In Maths, the class have been learning about division and fractions. The children have found the BBC Bitesize daily lesson very useful in helping with their Maths learning. Year 2 won the Pre-Easter Sumdog Competition. Well done to all those who took part! :)

The children have enjoyed the 'Brain Teasers' activities where they were challenged to use their Maths and English skills as well as their imagination to solve a range of fun puzzles.

In RE, the class have been reflecting on the story of the Ascension and explaining the thoughts and feelings of the disciples at the moment Jesus ascended. I have also received some lovely pictures of how the children crowned Mary at home.

In History, the children have been learning about the Great Fire of London and some have created their own zig-zag book to tell the events of the Great Fire.

In Science, the children have been learning about living things in their habitat. Some have been out and about exploring their local park and woodland looking for living things. The children have been set with the challenge of making their own bug hotel!

In Art, the class have been set the challenge of creating their own self-portrait. I am really impressed with how well the children have used the space of their page to make their self-portrait fill the page. The class have also been encouraged to create their own art work in the style of the artist Andy Goldsworthy.  The children collected materials consisting of the primary colours (red, yellow and blue) from either outside their home or around their house and created their own art work.

In ICT, children have been learning about Algorithms and Abstraction.

In Music, the children have been exploring how to create actions to a song, thinking about the lyrics and they were challenged to keep in time to the beat. I have received some videos and I am very impressed with the children's musical abilities :)

On Thursday 23 April, it was St George's Day. We celebrated this day at home by wearing red and white, eating English food and designing a dragon with a special power.
